OnkRemote is the first Windows Phone app to control your Onkyo(tm) or Integra(tm) brand AV Receiver over wifi! Here is a list of just some of its many features:
  • Connect to your PC or media server using DLNA to browse and stream your music - no need to turn on the TV.
  • Enjoy internet radio like Spotify(tm) and Pandora(tm).
  • Multiple zone support. Now you can control other zones without line of sight to the receiver.
  • Control CEC/RIHD enabled devices like blu-ray players and TVs using the remote built into the app
  • Highly customizable. Give input sources and zones their own custom names and hide the ones you don't use.
  • Control the receiver's built-in radio tuner by preset or direct tuning
  • Automatically detects devices on your network and configures them using built-in templates for each model
  • Shows audio and video source input/output details

Supports 2009 and newer model Onkyo/Integra network receivers. There is limited support on earlier models and all features may not be available.

Merlin Software!

First of all, my compliments on your app, I've been using it for a couple of days now and must say it works rather well.

However, for €6,- I had expected something clearer, and easier to use. Let me explain; the functions itself work easy enough, and it's pretty self explanatory, but having a manual or a website online would have been helpful. But, as I said, it works pretty well, so I managed to get most of it working without needing one.
But since I want to use my phone (windows phone 7.5) and receiver (Onkyo TX-NR609) primarily for DLNA functions, I expected this to work easier.

The problem(s) I encountered:
I want to listen to music, streaming from my PC using Foobar2000. All files are properly tagged, with embedded pictures. Yet one my phone I don't see any pictures and almost no names are properly displayed. My TV shows the titles but this defeats the purpose of not having to turn on your TV.

Furthermore, and this is the most annoying problem I've encountered, I need to switch on my TV, select DNLA, connect to the playlist of my choosing and then I can browse my songs. That is, I can skip them one at a time! I don't see any overview of "all artists", "all songs" etc. When I click on "network" and then DNLA it just remains searching and searching, even though it's connected. The following menu, displaying my choices of playlists etc, isn't shown at all! The same goes for the internet radio. Again, I need my remote to navigate to the wished channel.

This makes the app not as functional as it should be. Have you encountered these problems before? Is there anything I should pay attention to? Again, as said before, I can hardly find a manual or forum topics about your app online, so I have no knowledge about using WMP instead of Foobar2000 etc (which, I think, shouldn't make a difference).

Hopefully we can solve these problems to make this good app great.

Hello, I've not seen that issue before - my first thought would be it's from using foobar2000 as your DLNA server, I used the built-in DLNA capabilities of Windows and I suspect most of my testers did as well.

If you access it though the TV and your physical remote is it doing the same thing?

The app will give instructions on how to enable DLNA, but only if no DLNA servers are found. What version of Windows do you have? In Windows 7 you can go to the control panel, network and sharing center, choose homegroup and sharing options, and then check the steam my pictures, music, etc. box. Below that is a choose media streaming options link, click and and you should see your receiver. Change it from blocked to allowed if necessary

Thank you for your quick response! I'm new at all of this, so I'll try to be as detailed about the faced problems as possible.

As for your questions:
1) I'm still stuck Windows XP

2) I'm not sure that I know what you mean by the above.

When I browse through my playlists (Onkyo sees all the playlist currently active in my Foobar window) I can select entire playlists, or browse songs (scrolling them one at a time).
On my phone I can't connect to anything apart from "DLNA" or other Network sources. When trying to connect, even to internet radio, it just keeps on loading. Shouldn't I be able to browse the various internet radios it finds? Since there are no arrow buttons displayed on the Onkremote when selecting Network, the user is entirely dependent on receiving the streams displayed on his/her phone.

As said before, I am able to play music via Foobar, but indeed, maybe I need to switch something on in my control panel. But, where I should find this is still unknown to me ; )

Again, I greatly appreciate the time you take to reply.

- I just noticed it is also impossible for me to use the pause and play button via my telephone. It then says "action disrupted" or something similar.

Here is how to enable DLNA in Windows XP - you may need to turn off the other software:

Is the receiver networking functioning properly if you use the physical remote the came with the amp and your TV?
